BARR Program
Hello! My name is Evan Narasky. I'm the BARR Coordinator here at PHS. I'd like to welcome everyone to Pasadena High School and the Bulldog family! We're excited to have everyone here with us. I'd like to especially welcome all of our freshmen who are now part of the BARR program here at PHS. BARR stands for Building Assets, Reducing Risks. BARR is a tiered system designed to support students during the sometimes difficult transition to high school. Our goal is to build relationships with each student so we can better support them on this journey.
What is BARR?
BARR — Building Assets, Reducing Risks — is a strengths-based model that provides more than 170 schools with a comprehensive approach to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. Schools within the BARR Network harness the power of relationships and data to become more equitable, ensure that no student is invisible, and remove both academic and non-academic barriers to learning.
BARR is an educational model that improves the education system and creates strong schools and communities by empowering students, teachers, staff, and family with intentionally deepened relationships and data so that schools can re-align existing resources to nurture a unified and personalized culture of support and success for every student, both inside and outside the classroom.
BARR believes that each and every student has the right not only to an education but a right to success in education.
