The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a free form that students can use to apply for financial aid for college, career school, or graduate school:

What it's used for
Students can use the FAFSA to apply for grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans. -
Who uses it
Colleges and career schools use the FAFSA to determine how much financial aid a student is eligible for. Many states and colleges also use the FAFSA to award their own aid. -
How to apply
Students must apply for aid every year and submit their FAFSA application on time to be considered. -
What's needed
To be eligible for federal financial aid, students must meet certain requirements, including:-
Being a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen with a valid Social Security number

Having a high school diploma or a GED certificate

Being enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a qualifying degree or certificate program
