Mr. Minh Tran
Serves Every - Moran and APP/Math Academies
With 24 years of experience in education—all within Pasadena Unified School District—I bring a deep understanding of academic development, course planning, and student advisement. I began my career as a Math teacher at Eliot Middle School, where I spent 8 years cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students. For the past 17 years, I have served as a school counselor at Pasadena High School, where my focus has expanded to guiding students through every aspect of their high school journey.
I specialize in high school course curriculum and planning, including Advanced Placement (AP) pathways and college preparatory advisement. My role involves helping students and parents navigate a balanced, challenging, and fulfilling high school experience that aligns with their long-term goals. With extensive knowledge in college planning and admissions, I assist students in exploring post-secondary opportunities that fit their aspirations and potential.
I believe that "the will to succeed is nothing without the will to prepare." In my work, I emphasize that every student has the ability to succeed but knowing how and when to apply their strengths is the most critical aspect of reaching their goals. I encourage students to take ownership of their learning and future by asking questions, seeking guidance, and turning challenges and failures into opportunities for growth. My ultimate aim is to empower students to become independent, confident, and prepared for the path that lies beyond high school.
When I'm not in the office, I enjoy playing golf with my friends, cooking and grilling, detailing my cars, and traveling with my family.

I’m thrilled to join the counseling team at my alma mater! I’m a first-generation Latina, born and raised in Pasadena, and I’m beyond excited about working with students in my community. My interest in education and counseling started during my time as a student at PHS, so I look forward to guiding and empowering students to pursue their passions. I’m a huge advocate for higher education and have experience working at the 2 year and 4 year college level. In addition to helping students prepare for life after high school, I look forward to supporting their socioemotional and academic needs. Overall, I hope to make our student’s time at PHS as significant as it was for me!

I am overjoyed to be a part of the Bulldog family for a fourth year, and starting my first year as the LPS counselor.
My favorite part of being a high school counselor is witnessing the personal growth in students from Freshman to Senior year, as they figure out who they are and who they want to be, realizing their own potential along the way.
I aim to be proactive, responsive, and supportive in my work with students and parents.
